Créations Menuhin

21.08.2024 , Wednesday

One of the most outstanding violinists of the past century, a personality shaped by natural curiosity: It doesn’t surprise that many contemporary composers see themselves inspired by Yehudi Menuhin. Oleg Kaskiv and soloists from the IMMA reflect Menuhin’s great legacy in their programme for this evening. For instance, the Concerto for 2 Violins and Strings by the British composer Malcolm Arnold was commissioned in 1962 by Yehudi Menuhin for himself and his then-student Alberto Lysy. That’s not even all: to continue the inspiration from Menuhin, his son Jeremy was commissioned to write a new concerto, which now premieres with Antonio Lysy (the son of Alberto). With this programme, a genuine family tale unfolds!
