Music festivals

The Gstaad holiday region is a superb acoustic arena – an absolute treat for body and mind. No wonder, then, that Gstaad and the surrounding area serve as a venue for top-class music festivals with huge stars from all over the world – all year round. Sounds range from the Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy to Country Night Gstaad, from the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad to the Gstaad New Year Music Festival.

Les Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad – winter magic

What could be better than listening to glorious music indoors as the snow falls outside? The snowy season in Gstaad promises not only a fascinating Winterreise (winter journey), but also plenty more highlights of classical chamber music in ‘Les Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad’. Since 2016, the festival has been curated by French star violinist Renaud Capuçon, who lives and teaches in Lausanne. Up-and-coming talents, famous chamber orchestras and internationally established artists come together here in close harmony. For nine days, they enchant audiences in the churches of the Saanenland with a wealth of musical highlights.

Gstaad New Year Music Festival – the perfect start to the year

Ring out the old year and ring in the new at the Gstaad New Year Music Festival. This magnificent event is supported by the House of Grimaldi, the reigning house of the Principality of Monaco, under the artistic direction of Princess Caroline Murat. Away from the buzz on the ski slopes, music lovers flock to this sophisticated festival to enjoy exquisite concerts and performances, ranging from baroque to jazz. This musical gem gets the New Year off to a fantastic start in the Saanenland.
