1. Game specialities
The hunting season once again brings delicious game dishes to the menus of many restaurants. Some restaurants near Gstaad offer game specialities from local hunts. Fine home-made spaetzle, red cabbage and caramelised chestnuts - who can say "no" to that?
2. picking mushrooms in the Gstaad forests
If you know where to look, you'll find plenty of mushrooms in the forests around Gstaad. Perhaps you will also discover some on your hikes through the fabulously colourful forests. If you want to eat them, be sure to show them to a mushroom inspector first.

3. Picnic with a view
Fill your Gstaad picnic rucksack with autumnal delicacies such as alpine cheese, nuts or berries from the dairies and enjoy a picnic on one of the loungers or a meadow. Surrounded by golden forests in a dreamy evening atmosphere, your "Znacht" becomes an experience. Our insider tip for the perfect picnic location: Grossi Vorschess, on the hiking trail between Rellerli and Saanenmöser. There is a "Brätli-Stelle" here with tables and wood for barbecuing. If you already know the "Grossi Vorschess" and would like to discover more places, you can find an overview of the barbecue sites here.
4. fondue outdoors
The beautiful view can be enjoyed twice as much with a fondue and a glass of wine! We pack our fondue rucksack (or order it from the local dairy) and make our way to one of the huge wooden caquelons. If you come across your new favourite spot on the way, make yourself comfortable - after all, you're flexible with a fondue backpack.

5. visit an autumn Market
Culinary markets and events are always held in the autumn month of September. In Gstaad, these convivial events are all about the fine alpine cheese. At the "Chästeilet", the past alpine season is celebrated at the festival restaurant and the fresh mountain cheese is cut for the first time. The alp cheese and bell market attracts visitors with tasty cheese and traditional crafts. Have you ever tried sliced cheese with a little "Saanesenf"? This speciality made from spiced cherry puree gives the cheese a very special flavour.
