Fish like the Inuit in fairytale surroundings. In winter, the Hinterstockensee on the Stockhorn resembles a backdrop in the far north. A perfect starting point for a special winter experience.

Ice fishing on the Stockhorn means drilling a hole the size of a soup plate into the ice of the frozen Hinterstockensee lake with an ice auger, hanging a maggot or artificial bait on the ice fishing rod and hoping for a big catch. Experienced fishermen don't have to give up their hobby in winter. Those who are not put off by the freezing cold can put their patience to the test despite a thick layer of ice. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, those seeking peace and quiet will find their winter paradise on the frozen Hinterstockensee - surrounded by snow-covered mountain peaks and above the thick blanket of fog. Entering the lake is at your own risk.

Ice fishing equipment can be hired at the Chrindi middle station.

How to get there
The Igloo World on the Stockhorn can be reached with the Stockhornbahn from Erlenbach. Paid parking spaces are available at the valley station. If you arrive by train, the valley station is a 15-minute walk from Erlenbach railroad station.

From the Simmental, the aerial cableway leads in two sections over the Hinterstockensee lake up to the summit. At 2190 m above sea level, the Stockhorn summit is the highest mountain in the Stockhorn range.
