“Shadow and Light”

For more than two decades, we’ve had the pleasure of regularly hosting Sol Gabetta at our Festival – and the excitement grows with each new year! The same can be said for Kristian Bezuidenhout, whose contagious passion has enthralled us at Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy for years, whether on the fortepiano or, as in this programme, on the modern concert grand! The duo transports us to the peaks of Romanticism, where shadows and light engage in an impressive dance of contrasts – entirely in sync with the Cello Sonata No. 1 by the young Brahms, who depicted his creation with its pastoral colours as a vibrant fusion of (seeming) opposites.
