This mountain route passes by the Gastlosen located in the south of Jaun, at an altitude of 1500 to 1900 metres. On the circular hike around the Gastlosen, hikers can discover the flora and geological richness unique to this region and immerse themselves in the special atmosphere and mood of the route. The starting point is Abländschen. From the old schoolhouse, at the Chappelematte, you climb up to the actual circular route and head for the Chalet Grat. After the chalet, you enter the lush Mattewald forest and reach the chairlift that goes up here from Jaun. The path continues towards the Soldier's House, first above gentle pastures and sparse forests, before reaching a landscape of abrupt limestone cliffs, some of which are up to 300 m high. You then discover the stillwater forest and its extremely varied vegetation. After a stony section at Wolfs Ort at 1,921 m, you reach this highest point of the hike from the north side back to the south side. The southern slope offers a magnificent view of the Bernese Alps and the 4000-metre peaks of the Valais. There you cross green alpine meadows again until you reach the turnoff that leads back to the village of Abländschen.
