Romance by excellence

By Selina Riegert | 18.10.2023 | Winter

Looking for some alone time? While it may still be a little too early for bouquets of mountain flowers, it’s the perfect time to warm up the winter with some Alpine romance. We reveal the most couple-friendly spots and activities for unforgettable romantic experiences in Gstaad.

Tip 1: a romantic ride in a horse-drawn carriage

Sleigh runners gliding through stunning winter landscapes and a light, icy breeze on your face – horse-drawn carriage rides are one of the top romantic highlights of any stay in Gstaad. Numerous providers offer you the opportunity to enjoy the picture-perfect, snow-covered scenery in this very special way.

Tip 2: cross-country skiing at dusk

It doesn’t get much more romantic than this: snow-capped mountains, the sky painted shades of orange and red by the sinking sun, and perfectly groomed cross-country ski trails. The illuminated cross-country trail (until 10 pm) between Schönried and Saanenmöser is the perfect route for sporty couples.

Tip 3: a romantic igloo

An overnight stay in the Gstaad Igloo Village is a truly unique experience involving much more than just sleeping in an igloo. You will be treated to cheese fondue, a guided snowshoe trek by night, time to enjoy the hot tub and sauna, and breakfast in the mountain restaurant. This is a wintry adventure that will make you want to snuggle up and get cosy.

After a day of winter activities or hiking, kick back in the Hot Pot tub and treat your senses to a wellness experience while enjoying the great outdoors around you. Culinary extras can even be included on request.

Tip 6: sunsets

Fondue has always been a popular winter dish. We combine the favourite Swiss activity, hiking, with the favourite Swiss winter treat – fondue! Our XXL fondue caquelons are a great place to enjoy a delicious meal, snuggle up and watch the sunset.

The Eggli offer sun terraces to relax on during the day, and transforms into a romantic destination in the evening. With a delicious dinner and a glass of bubbly in hand, there’s no better way to enjoy the sunset together.
