Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad

Since its foundation in 2001, the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad have been a musical highlight of the winter season for all classical music lovers. Every year, young talents, orchestras, internationally established artists and music lovers from Switzerland and abroad come together over nine days to revive the most beautiful works of the classical repertoire in a snow-covered dream landscape.

Founded by former artistic director Thierry Scherz and director Ombretta Ravessoud, the festival has been based on three pillars from the outset: three concert cycles are organised in three outstanding venues. The afternoon concerts in the Gstaad Chapel are dedicated to promising young talents and a specific instrument. In the evenings, concert-goers can enjoy internationally renowned soloists and orchestras in the churches of Saanen and Rougemont. Every winter, the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad prove to be a popular meeting place for the whole region. The dinners organised after the concerts at the Gstaad Palace or at the Café du Cerf in Rougemont allow for exceptional encounters between the music-loving audience, the artists and the festival's partners. Every year since 2002, the festival and a partner have offered a young virtuoso the opportunity to record a CD with a symphony orchestra for the Claves Records label.
