Competition with sweeping views: On the shortest training route used by the former world cup athlete, Nathalie von Siebenthal, cross-country skiers can try to better her times. All the while as you enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains.
The training trail used by Nathalie von Siebenthal from Lauenen is set in the Turbach, an idyllic Gstaad side valley. This tranquil village can be reached in less than a quarter hour from Gstaad.
Nestled between Wistätthorn, Tube and Giferspitz, this sunny level area is an inviting place for a leisurely round amid a superb winter landscape. But you can also enjoy the silence of nature in a more strenuous way: Using a Strava app or a stopwatch, ambitious cross-country skiers can compete with Nathalie von Siebenthal and test their skills on the original training track used by the young athlete. The trail runs from the village to Wintermatte and back again.
At the trail there is an information panel showing the section - one kilometre long - as well as the best time that the 2015 U23 world champion has achieved. And the chances of being able to meet this trained farmer face to face are quite good as she regularly returns home for training, to the very place where she made her first attempts to glide along the snow.
