Open air theater «Der Chrüzwäg vom Castellan»

Intrigue, power and love. The year is 1398 and Niclas Baumer holds the office of Castellan in Saanen and is thus the link between the population of the Saanenland valley and the Gruyère authorities. The people of Saanen want to buy their freedom from the people of Gruyère, but the people of Savoy are anxious to bind them to themselves and do everything they can to stop the trade. The drama takes its course: intrigue and power struggles are juxtaposed with friendship and love. A play that traces the history of the Saanenland in an impressive and moving way.

As with the open-air plays "Farinet, der Falschmünzer" and "Der Schwarz Steff", Ruth Domke succeeds in drawing the characters of the power-hungry, building up suspense and weaving in the necessary dose of humor. This work also incorporates the ideas of Joelle Brand and Pitschu Hefti. The first joint work by the playwright group JoPiRu.
