UCI Granfondo Schweiz

07.07.2024 , Sunday

In the heart of the Vaud Alps, the mountain resort of Villars is the setting for a weekend of festivities for cycling enthusiasts.

With its two different race formats (time trial and road race) and four different routes, this event is aimed at both competitive riders and amateur cyclists looking for a personal challenge or a family day out to share their passion for cycling (in all its forms !).

A feedstation will be set up at the Dorfplatz in Saanen for the longest of the three routes. By then, the riders will have covered 40 kilometres.

More than a qualifier for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, this course is worthy of a Grand Tour mountain stage. Starting from Villars-sur-Ollon, nearly 4,000m of ascent await participants, with climbs of the most legendary passes in the Vaud Alps. The Col de la Croix and Col du Pillon provide a hearty warm-up before tackling the lesser-known Col du Mittelberg. This ascent, which links Pays-d'Enhaut and Saanenland, offers magnificent landscapes where nature reigns supreme. Participants will then enjoy a more rolling section of the race before the wild and peaceful ascent of the Hongrin valley towards its lake and dam. The final summit finish is at the Col de la Croix, after an ascent up the other side of the mountain.
