The Jaunpass lies on the Bern-Freiburg cantonal border at 1,508 m above sea level and is the start of the tour. The hike leads through lush, flowering alpine meadows with peacefully grazing Simmental cows to the Hundsrügg. On this mountain ridge, the view of the Gastlosen and the Obersimmental peaks is phenomenal. The panorama encompasses 423 mountain peaks. The upland moors on the Nüjeberg are a highlight on the way to Sparenmoos.
